M. Alexander Kintner,

Attorney and Counselor at Law

Attorney Alexander Kintner grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  He completed his undergraduate studies at the College of Charleston, where he double majored in Political Science and Philosophy.  Upon Graduation, Attorney Kintner attended Law School at the Quinnipiac University School of Law in Connecticut.  During Law School, Attorney Kintner worked for the Orange County, CT, District Attorney's office, and also clerked for the Honorable Anderson D. Cromer, Elected Superior Court Judge of Stokes and Surry Counties.

Upon his graduation from Law School, Attorney Kintner returned to North Carolina, where he was admitted as a member of the North Carolina Bar in 2011.  Since his admission to the bar, Attorney Kintner has handled thousands of cases, ranging from traffic tickets to Major Felony Criminal Defense.  Attorney Kintner is a zealous advocate for his clients, and believes strongly in making sure their rights are protected.  Attorney Kintner focuses all of his efforts on making sure his clients receive the best resolution possible in their case  and successfully guiding them through the Court system.

Peyton H. Moore, 

Attorney and Counselor at Law

Peyton grew up in Greenville, South Carolina and has strong family roots in eastern North Carolina. She is a graduate of Clemson University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, cum laude, with a minor in Business Administration.

After graduation, Attorney Moore attended Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She worked extensively for the Brunswick County District Attorney’s office and for the Children’s Law Center of Central North Carolina. Attorney Moore received her J.D. from Wake Forest and was admitted as a member of the North Carolina Bar.

Driven by a desire to make a difference in the lives of others, Attorney Moore will combine her knowledge of the law with hard work, integrity, and moral values. She will work aggressively for her clients and make sure that their rights are safeguarded.

Ashley R. Smith,

Attorney and Counselor at Law

Ashley Smith exclusively focuses her practice on Family Law issues in New Hanover and Brunswick counties. These issues include but are not limited to:

  • Divorce

  • Equitable Distribution

  • Alimony

  • Domestic Violence

Ms. Smith has long held a passion for family law matters and uses her experiences as a child of a divorced family to inspire her. After Graduation from Appalachian State University, Ms. Smith Attended Campbell University School of Law.

Ms. Smith has extensive litigation experience and loves being in the courtroom but knows that Court is not always what is best for her clients. She is receptive to resolving disputes outside the courtroom when it makes sense to do so.

Ms. Smith was born and raised in North Carolina and began practicing in Raleigh in 2011 handling criminal defense. In 2012 she moved to Wilmington to take an opportunity to focus her practice on her passion for family law. Along the way, she has developed a reputation as one of the toughest and most respected lawyers in New Hanover and Brunswick counties.

Sydney Reynolds,
Attorney and Counselor at Law

Sydney was born and raised in Southwest Florida but has lived in the Wilmington, North Carolina area since 2010. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a concentration in Pre-Professional Legal Studies and a minor in Criminal Justice. She earned her Juris Doctor from Campbell University's Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law and was later admitted as a member of the North Carolina State Bar. 

 

Prior to becoming an Attorney, Sydney worked as law clerk and paralegal in Law Firms handling Family Law, and as a paralegal with the Department of Social Services focusing on Abuse, Neglect, and Dependency matters. 

Sydney zealously represents her clients in various practice areas, including Criminal, Driving While Impaired, and Traffic charges, Juvenile Delinquency matters, and as a Parent Defender in Abuse, Neglect, and Dependency cases in New Hanover and Pender Counties. Sydney is a two-time recipient of the Super Lawyers "Rising Star" Award in 2025 and 2026 for her work as a criminal defense attorney.

Katie Cottle, 
Attorney and Counselor at Law

Attorney Katie Cottle grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, before attending the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, Katie took two years off prior to attending law school and began her professional career in New York City. Katie then returned to North Carolina and attended Campbell University School of Law. Upon graduation and admission to the North Carolina Bar, Katie moved back to Wilmington to begin her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney for the 15th Prosecutorial District.

After two years as a Prosecutor, with hundreds of trials both in front of Judges and Juries, Katie decided to explore a career in Family Law and joined the Coastal South Law team.

Having a background in criminal prosecution, Katie understands the intricacies of the North Carolina Justice System and the overlap between the criminal and civil sides of the law. Combined with her extensive courtroom experience, this unique insight and practical knowledge enables her to serve and advocate for her clients in both a strategic and professional manner.

Michelle Rodriguez,

Legal Assistant

Although born in Long Island, New York, Michelle has spent the majority of her life here in Brunswick County, North Carolina. Michelle grew up in a multi-lingual household and speaks fluent Spanish.

After high school, Michelle went on to graduate from Cape Fear Community College, majoring in Business Administration.

In addition to providing legal assistant support to the Attorneys at Coastal South Law, Michelle provides interpreter services to ensure that Coastal South Law's Spanish-speaking clients are able to fully understand their legal situation and communicate effectively with their Attorney at all times.

Michelle is committed to supporting the Coastal South Law team and ensuring clients are 100% satisfied with their representation.

Krystal Skarvelis,
Legal Assistant 

Krystal is a North Carolina native, who lives in her hometown with her husband, two boys, and fur babies. Krystal began working in the legal field in January of 2012 as a Legal Assistant and remained with that Law Firm for nine years. While working at the Law Firm, Krystal assisted the Attorneys with multiple different types of cases, including Criminal Law and Family Law.

In 2021, Krystal joined the Brunswick County Clerk of Courts Office for three and half years, and during that time worked as a Clerk in the Criminal Division, Special Proceedings Division, and Juvenile Division.

Krystal is now providing Legal Support to the Attorneys at Coastal South Law with her exceptional attention to detail, strong research skills, and ability to work well under pressure. She is a compassionate and empathetic person with a dedication to making sure that all clients are provided exceptional representation and are fully satisfied. Krystal is dedicated to embodying our commitment to excellence, integrity, and teamwork.

Alissa Edwards,

Paralegal

Alissa is a native of Long Island, New York but now calls Wilmington, North Carolina home. She attended Florida Atlantic University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education before pursuing her career in the legal field. Alissa joined our team as a family law paralegal and works closely with the attorneys to ensure all clients receive excellent service and consistent guidance while navigating the legal system. Driven by her personal experiences, Alissa strives to make a positive impact on clients by being a friendly, comforting, and compassionate source of support and advocacy during some of their most difficult times.
